Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston are superb in The Bounty Hunter, a romantic comedy from the director of Hitch and distributed by Sony Pictures. It’s more of a gushy chick flick but guys are sure to love the crude humor that Butler brings to the screen.
This movie is rated PG-13 for sexual content, language, and violence. It was filmed in Atlantic City, New Jersey and opened up in theaters March of 2010.
The Bounty Hunter is a Real Job
Milo Boyd is a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter. He has racked up some gambling debts and is looking to grab an assignment that pays rather well. When his ex-wife’s mug shot is tossed his way and he finds out she jumped bail, he rushes at the chance to track her down.
Nicole Hurley, the ex-wife bail jumper, isn’t going to be delivered to jail that easily though. She gives Milo the slip several times while she’s on a case to track down a lead on a murder cover-up.
Both exes continue to get the drop on each other until finally they are forced to run for their lives. Nine months of marriage may have been hard, but staying alive is even harder.
The Bounty Hunter Doesn’t Need Acting Lessons
The cast of characters for The Bounty Hunter is wonderful. The actors and actresses get along well and play their parts to the hilt.
Jennifer Aniston, probably best known for her role as Rachel from the television series Friends, plays Nicole Hurley. She’s a stubborn reporter who puts a good story ahead of her own life, which causes a mess when she misses a court date to pursue a lead.
Gerard Butler is Milo Boyd, ex-cop turned bounty hunter. He likes to drink and gamble and has an eye for the ladies, but underneath it all, he’s still sweet on Nicole, the love of his life.
Jason Sudeikis from Saturday Night Live portrays Stewart, Nicole’s co-worker who appears to be in love with her against her wishes. He is easily compared to a lovesick stalker as he follows her around and pushes himself into her daily life.
Cathy Moriarty plays Irene, the bookie boss who wants her gambling loans paid back by Milo. She sends her goons after the bounty hunter, but their actions are too humorous to even consider.
Jason Kolotourus plays Gelman, the man who is out to kill Nicole for getting involved in the murder cover-up investigation.
Dorian Missick is Bobby, a cop and friend to both exes. He becomes a suspect in Nicole’s eyes when it turns out he was the cop who signed off on the murder victim as a suicide.
The Bounty Hunter is a Fun Adventure
This movie has some fun points to it, such as when Milo handcuffs Nicole to his car door and leaves her there to investigate something. When he turns around, she’s standing there with car door in hand and her wrist still cuffed. It might not be totally hilarious, but it’s enough to crack a smile.
Fans of romantic comedies should enjoy the witty banter between the male and female leads of Butler and Aniston. They have chemistry.
All in all, it will make for a great night at the cinema.
